Many of you guys know what Gaga Ball is. At my school, we have a
gaga pit. It has winners, chanters and kids that try their hardest. I
was one of the kids who would try his hardest. I tried so hard that I
made it to the final 2 kids left in the gaga
pit. I knew that the other kid in the pit was really good at Gaga
Ball.
Kids in my class were chanting, "Quentin! Quentin! Quentin!”
All of the other kids were chanting the other kids name, ”Rocco! Rocco! Rocco!”
It was louder than the people shouting my name but I didn't care. I just kept playing and it took us a couple of minutes and then Rocco started to try harder and I was beginning to breathe harder. He got closer to me. He hit the ball and I blocked it with my hands. Then he hit it one last time as hard as he could and I had my legs wide open and I jumped with my legs wide open and landed on the ground. It didn't hit me and then when I landed, it was going to hit the wall but it didn't.... instead it hit my foot! I got back up and they all yelled, “OHHHHH!" I knew then that I was out. I then picked up some wood chips and threw them as hard as I could back at the ground because I was so mad that I lost. So I got out of the gaga pit and went to the back of the line.
On my way back to the back of the line, John told me, "You did good Quentin." I said, "Thanks!" Then the whistle blew for us to go back inside then both Kevins walked over to me and one of them said, "Nice job Q!" "Thanks!" I replied. Then the other Kevin came over to me and said, "You did the best on the Joberts team today." I said, "Thanks, except for Jude though. He was in the final two also, but I was in it longer than him." Then Zoeya came over to me and said, "You did really good Quentin." I again said, “Thanks!" Then I went to Language Arts class and was satisfied with how well I did in gaga ball that day.
I learned that day that it's better when you try your hardest and lose, than to not try your hardest and lose. I learned that because if you do try your hardest and end up losing, people give you compliments for having tried so hard and that makes me feel good even I though I lost.
